Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting professional accounting tasks within the Faculty of Medicine, under the supervision of the Manager, Finance. Responsibilities encompass tasks such as preparing or aiding in intricate financial and strategic analysis for incorporation into various documents, including briefing notes, budget submissions, and reports for the Department of Health and Community Services, the University, accreditation, and national reporting requirements. Additionally, responsibilities include monitoring budgets and accounts, including operating and grant funds. Implementing necessary corrective measures: Engaging in assigned internal audit activities, evaluating and implementing internal controls as deemed necessary, documenting accounting issues, examining historical documents for trend and variance analysis, analyzing accounts, generating reports, and conducting account reconciliation, evaluating existing shared services agreements (both internal and external), monitoring financial transactions for adherence to university policies and procedures, conducting internal reviews as necessary, undertaking special projects as required, collaborating with and advising staff within the Medicine department on various financial matters, offering assistance or support on grant accounts or grant-related matters, and carrying out other relevant responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Relevant qualifications for consideration include a minimum of three to five years of experience in university, governmental, or commercial accounting or financial administration, a graduation from a university with a major in accounting or finance, or any combination of experience and training that is deemed equivalent. The attainment or pursuit of an accounting designation would be regarded as a valuable asset. Proficiency in MS suite of office products (Excel and MS Access), together with strong analytical skills and experience in database creation and usage, is necessary. An advantageous attribute would be have prior experience with alternative financial accounting software, such as Banner Finance and FAST.

The annual salary range for Management and Professional positions is between $53,696 and $80,539.
