LL.M. Candidates At College of Law, Syracus University- Apply Now

LL.M. candidates are advised by the College of Law to submit their application materials by June 1 in order to be given priority consideration for admission in the autumn semester (August). The College does not collect any application fees.

Criteria for Admission

Applicants to the LL.M. program are required to possess a bachelor’s degree in law from an international educational institution.

Applicants who are not native English speakers are required to provide evidence of their ability in the English language. The College of Law advises a minimum TOEFL score of 90 or higher, or an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher, and will take into account supplementary variables when evaluating English language proficiency.
Upon completion of a complete application, all applicants may have an interview either through an online platform or by phone.

Academic admission and proficiency in legal English

Conditional admission may be granted to candidates who fail to exhibit enough English-language competency, subject to their successful completion of an English program at Syracuse University’s English Language Institute (ELI). During their time at ELI, applicants have the opportunity to attend law lectures and participate in LL.M. program events as their schedules allow.

Irrespective of the individual’s English language proficiency, it is highly recommended that all candidates pursuing an LL.M. degree participate in the rigorous six-week summer program titled “English for Lawyers” provided by Syracuse University’s esteemed English Language Institute.

Law School Expenses Academic Fees

The cost of attending a course of study is contingent upon the duration of the program. The tuition fee for the two-semester track for the academic year 2023-2024 amounts to $59,880.

The College of Law at Syracuse University will evaluate all candidates for merit scholarships in order to mitigate the financial burden associated with tuition fees. Loans for students

Eligible individuals who possess U.S. citizenship or permanent residency are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as a prerequisite for acquiring Federal Direct Student Loans.

Non-public Loans

Prospective applicants have the option to seek private educational finance options from lenders such as MPOWER and Sallie Mae. Private loans are based on credit and provide options with either a fixed or variable interest rate. The majority of cases necessitate a cosigner based in the United States.
