About the Position

The purpose of the Content Strategist is to develop and implement content which will promote the work of the International Development Department and its many programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the resource media coordinator in providing strategic and operational support to marketing and media initiatives for the International Development Department
Create and design engaging content for both online platforms (Facebook, Instagram, twitter) and written published works.

Support the development and implementation of promotional and fundraising materials.

Assist in developing promotional material for 2 significant campaigns (Brighter Futures and Under the Tree) and any future campaigns that the International

Development Office undertakes.
Support the International Development Department with innovative presentations and ideas to engage individuals and the public in the ministry of International Development.

Develop ideas for improving newsletters and other platforms
Provide technical support for the International Development Office
Provide secretarial and administrative duties as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate must meet the requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Program:

Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred.

Is legally entitled to work according to the provincial / territorial legislations and regulations

Completing/Completed a University/College degree in Communications, graphic design or a related field.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

Presentation of Portfolio preferable
At least 3 – 6 months of experience working in digital marketing, communications or advertising.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Ability to write and structure content clearly
Creative and attentive to detail
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, in-Design and Acrobat, Microsoft Office
Solid Interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Ability to work within a team environment
Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

Understanding and support of the mission of The Salvation Army in an international context
Hours – This is a full-time temporary position: 35 hours/week for 10 weeks.
